Debra Polsky, Executive Director

Debra became DJHS Executive Director in August 2012.  After a long career in Jewish Communal Service which took her from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Omaha, Nebraska to San Francisco, California; Debra first came to Dallas as the Executive Regional Director for B’nai B’rith Youth Organization (BBYO).  In addition to teaching in the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School for 14 years, she has worked or volunteered for a variety of agencies including Dallas Holocaust Center, Congregation Kol Ami, JCC Dallas, JCRC, Dallas Women’s Foundation, Girl Scouts of NETexas, Center for Jewish Education and the Dallas Association of Directors of Volunteers.  Debra received her Masters of Public Administration and Social Work from University of Nebraska.  Contact Debra Monday-Friday at 214-239-7108.

Carol Roszell, Archivist

Carol joined the DJHS in March 2012 after ten years as the Archivist/Director of Library for Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.  She received her Masters of Library Science and Information Science from University of North Texas and is experienced in authentication and appraisal of historical documents and archival materials.  Carol is currently working on organizing the archival records and developing classification systems to facilitate access to our wealth of preserved records, documents, objects and oral histories.   To view the archives or for research assistance, contact Carol at 214-239-7116.

 

Esther McKenna, Administrative Assistant

After a long career as a project manager with AT & T, Esther found her joy in serving in the nonprofit community, working with senior adults as a community services manager, nonprofit fundraiser and eventually, as director of the Shepherd’s Center of North Dallas.   This is Esther’s second stint at the DJHS serving as office administrator, responsible for maintenance of our membership database and mail campaigns.  In addition, Esther’s is the primary face and the voice you hear when you enter or contact the Dallas Jewish Historical Society.   Esther can be reached Tuesday-Thursday at 214-239-7120.
